About Evelyn Shoults

I am a visual artist whose work is deeply rooted in personal experience, particularly my ongoing Thyroidectomy Journey series. This body of work transforms the realities of living with thyroid cancer into oil paintings that explore themes of illness, healing, and resilience. Through a limited color palette, trompe l’oeil techniques, and layered textures, I create compositions that invite viewers into an intimate reflection on the body, medical intervention, and survival.

I’ve built a multidisciplinary practice shaped by exhibitions, juried shows, and a commitment to continuous artistic growth. My work has been exhibited in galleries and exhibitions including the Miller Art Gallery in Meridian, MS, the Alexander Hall Gallery in Savannah, Georgia, and Stonehenge Gallery in Montgomery, Alabama, with additional shows currently in progress. In addition to my studio practice, my experiences as a visual art educator have deepened my understanding of visual storytelling, allowing me to foster creativity and critical thinking in others while continuously evolving my own artistic approach.
